Plastic is taking over our oceans. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch off the coast of California is twice the size of Texas. The worst part: 90% of the trash on our water’s surface is plastic and non-biodegradable. The problem affects animals and humans. Over 100,000 marine mammals and 1,000,000 seabirds die every year from ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic. Additionally, because fish and plankton ingest plastic, it enters the food chain and can be toxic to humans. Reclaim our oceans by recycling, reusing and reducing our use of plastics.
