It provides “smart, fearless journalism” keeps people informed–”informed” being pretty much indispensable to a democracy that actually works. It is is journalism not funded by or beholden to corporations and is expanding its investigative coverage while the rest of the media are contracting. Mother Jones says you can count on it to take no prisoners, cleave to no dogma, and tell it like it is. Plus it’s pretty damn fun. Revenge Is agrees and reads it religiously.

It throws brickbats when they’re needed and bestows kudos when they’re warranted. While Grist says it takes its work seriously, it doesn’t take itself seriously, because of the many things this planet is running out of, sanctimonious tree-huggers ain’t one of them.

It is also rated as one of the best 100 companies to work for.
The Bloomberg Report www.bloomberg.com Bloomberg.com offers short, concise summaries of daily new issues on business, the environment and many social issues.
Wall Street Watch www.wallstreetwatch.org The Wall Street Watch Project is a joint venture between The Consumer Education Foundation, a California-based non-profit, non-partisan consumer research, education and advocacy organization, and Essential Information, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization involved in a variety of projects to promote a more just economy, public health and a sustainable planet. It has published a major report detailing the causes of our economic meltdown entitled “Sold Out: How Wall Street and Washington Betrayed America.” The Report itself is quite lengthy but the Executive Summary and the Introduction by Harvey Rosenfield is “must” reading.
The Wall Street Journal www.wsj.com The old line gold standard for business news reporting. The articles are excellent but unless you are a neo-con, you may want to skip the editorials.
