Murray Hill, Inc. runs for Congress
Following the US Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, Murray Hill, Inc., a Maryland PR firm, decided it should run for Congress and demonstrate the logical extension of the court’s decision: if corporations have a right to free speech, shouldn’t they also have the right to vote (a form of free speech) and the right to run for office? Murray Hill, Inc.’s application to register as a voter was recently denied by the State of Maryland but its spokesperson says they are working on that. In its satirical run for Congress, Murray Hill claims that “corporations are people too.” In a recent NPR interview, a Murray Hills represenative said it is running with the hope of taking the middleman out of politics. Murray Hill elaborates further on itswebsite.
”Until now, corporations only influenced politics with high-paid lobbyists and backroom deals. But today, thanks to an enlightened Supreme Court, corporations now have all the rights the founding fathers meant for us. It was their dream to build the best democracy money can buy.”
Murray Hill acknowledges that it is challenging a political system that is biased towards bodiedpeople, but it intends to forge ahead. To read more about Murray Hills’ Congressional candidacy, go to
